Venue: The ANZA Club

Some buildings hold history quietly; the ANZA Club holds it warmly.
Tucked into the heart of Mount Pleasant, it began in 1914 as the Mount Pleasant Gospel Hall — a place of gathering, of shared purpose, of community. In 1969, the Australia New Zealand Association acquired it and gave it a new life, one that has only deepened with time.
Today, cyclists on the nearby bike path, passing pedestrians, and visitors to the neighbourhood's many cafes and restaurants all recognise it at a glance. The ANZA's colourful painted façade has earned its place as one of Mount Pleasant's most distinctive landmarks — the kind of building that invites curiosity and makes you slow down to wonder what's happening inside.
And there is always something happening inside.
Over the decades, the ANZA Club has woven itself into the social fabric of Mount Pleasant and the City of Vancouver. The hall has welcomed theatre companies, musicians, fundraisers, wedding parties, and cultural presenters such as Tablao Triana Flamenco. Downstairs, members gather around the fireplace, challenge each other to darts, and cheer for their favourite sports teams. Here, the unhurried pleasure of good company is simply part of the rhythm — community not as a concept, but as something you feel the moment you walk through the door.
That sense of belonging extends well beyond its membership — and for Vancouver's music, dance, and cultural communities, the ANZA Club has long been a home.
The ANZA Club has been instrumental in bringing flamenco — an art form rooted in live music, dance, and cultural exchange — to diverse audiences in an intimate, community-centred setting. Access to this space has enabled us to present performances year-round, support local, national, and international artists, and cultivate a loyal audience that values accessible cultural venues in the city
Tablao Triana Flamenco is proud to call the ANZA Club our flamenco home — a place where art, culture, and community come alive
